Kisspeptin quick reference
What is Kisspeptin?
Natural brain signal that switches on the sex-hormone chain.
People use it to lift LH, FSH and testosterone signals.
Tested in people by drip, shot and nasal spray; not approved.
How Kisspeptin works
Binds receptors on GnRH-releasing brain cells.
The brain then signals the pituitary.
The pituitary releases both; testes or ovaries respond.
Twice-daily shots for 2 weeks weakened the LH response.
What Kisspeptin is studied for
One shot matured eggs in 95% of 60 women.
LH rose after the first shot and faded by day 14.
A KP-54 drip raised LH, FSH and testosterone in 6 men.
A KP-54 drip changed sexual brain activity and tumescence.
Raised LH fast in healthy adults (2025).
KP-54 sustained LH in mice far longer than KP-10.
Kisspeptin dosing protocol
| Study | Amount of kisspeptin-54 |
|---|---|
| Human dose for general use | Not established |
| IVF egg-maturation trigger, one shot under the skin (60 women, 2015) | 3.2 to 12.8 nmol per kg; later trials used 9.6 nmol per kg |
| Women with missed periods, under the skin twice a day for 2 weeks | 6.4 nmol per kg |
| Nasal spray, healthy adults and women with missed periods (2025) | 12.8 nmol per kg |
| Test dose into a vein, men with and without a hormone-gene disorder (2021) | 6.4 nmol per kg |

Kisspeptin-10 (a shorter form) was given into a vein as 0.3 mcg per kg in one dose, or 4 mcg per kg per hour as an 11-hour drip, in men with type 2 diabetes (PMID 23153270).
Label and trial amounts come from the sources below. Community amounts are what people report; they have not been tested.
Mixing
Example only. Trials used KP-54; community vials are often KP-10.
What the research found
Two human studies of kisspeptin-54 under the skin. IVF trigger, 60 women at high risk of overstimulation (Abbara 2015), and 10 women with missed periods given twice-daily shots (Jayasena 2009):
Abbara A et al. J Clin Endocrinol Metab 2015 (PMID 26192876); Jayasena CN et al. J Clin Endocrinol Metab 2009 (PMID 19820030). The women with missed periods still responded to GnRH, so the pituitary gland still worked.
Kisspeptin community experience
What users report. Not tested in trials.
Positive reports
- Libido and mood Some report small lifts in libido, energy or mood.
- Upstream appeal It does not replace testosterone itself.
- Bloodwork check Labs can show if LH and testosterone moved.
Negative & mixed
- Subtle or none Many notice little despite a clear mechanism.
- Side effects Headache, flushing, fatigue or nausea reported.
- Fades with repeats The response may not hold with repeated dosing.
Kisspeptin stacking
Both lift gonadotropins by different routes. Not studied together.
Brain signal plus testicular signal. Not studied together.
Hormone axis plus desire pathway. Not studied together.
Kisspeptin side effects & safety
Common
- 2025 nasal-spray study: no side effects reported.
- Response faded with twice-daily shots over 2 weeks.
- Healthy women: cycles shortened to 26.8 from 28.6 days.
- Headache, flushing, nausea (community).
Less common
- FDA: compounded kisspeptin-10 carries immunogenicity risk.
- Long-term safety is not established.
- No safety data for repeated home use.
Precautions
- Not approved; FDA lists kisspeptin-10 on its compounding risk list.
- Needs a working pituitary and gonads to respond.
- Baseline and follow-up LH, FSH, testosterone and estradiol show if it works.
- Repeated dosing weakens the response; long plans are untested.
Our verdict on Kisspeptin
The LH signal is real in specialist-run studies. Home schedules and lasting benefit are untested.
Kisspeptin FAQ
Is kisspeptin approved?
No. It is a research peptide in small human studies.
Kisspeptin-10 or kisspeptin-54?
Most human trials used KP-54. KP-10 clears much faster in mice.
Does it raise testosterone?
A KP-54 drip did in 6 men. Lasting effects are not shown.
Why does the effect fade?
Twice-daily shots for 2 weeks desensitized the response in women.
